Tax / Tariff / Trade Benefits:
Exemption from the payment of tariffs and duties for foreign merchandise.
No time limit for the storage of the merchandise, nor requirement to specify final
destination.
Merchandise can be exported or transported to another Free Zone or Sub-Zone
without paying tariffs or taxes.
The payment of tariffs and / or excise taxes may be deferred at the time of sale.
Merchandise moved to Free Zone for export may be reimbursed for tariffs paid.
Puerto Rico Energy Public Policy Act (Act 17):
The 2019 Grid Recovery and Modernization plans include a renewable
energy goal for the commonwealth of: 40% by 2025, 60% by 2040, and
100% by 2050
The 2022 Puerto Rico Energy Resilience Fund approves $1B for these
efforts to begin in summer of 2023
